Treatments - emeralds in this price range are usually oiled to improve color and/or resin-filled to increase durability and appearance. Like other gemstones from the beryl family they may be heat treated or dyed to improve color.
To clean if needed remove oil or any dirt with a micro fiber cloth. Soak in warm water and mild soap for a few seconds. Buff with a bristled brush that is very soft. Avoid chemicals, heat, steam, drastic changes in temperature, and ultrasonic cleaning.
